In 2022, our founder Kavitha booked a heritage hotel in Pune for ₹6,800 per night. At checkout the bill read ₹10,810. GST, "luxury tax", service charge, "amenity fee". Nothing disclosed at booking.
She surveyed 3,000 Indian travellers and found 82% had experienced an undisclosed charge at checkout. The problem wasn't individual hotels — it was a booking ecosystem with no incentive for honesty.
